Contradictions between the Book of Mormon (BoM) and Doctrine and Covenants (D&C)

Contradictions between the Book of Mormon (BoM) and Doctrine and Covenants (D&C)
(Compared to what does the Bible says)

Does God dwell in men’s heart?

BoM, Alma 34:36, “…The Lord hath said he dwelleth not in unholy temples, but in the hearts of the righteous doth he dwell…”
D&C 130:3, “…the idea that the Father and the Son dwell in a man’s heart is an old sectarian notion, and is false.”

(The Bible, Eph. 3:17, “…Christ may dwell in your hearts through faith.”)

Is God a Spirit – or a man with a body of flesh and bones?

BoM, Alma 22:9-10, “And the king said: Is God that Great Spirit …and Aaron said unto him: Yea, he is that Great Spirit…”
D&C of 1835, Theology, Lecture 5, pp. 52-55: “There are two personages (in the Godhead)They are the Father and the Son: The Father being a personage of spiritThe Son, who was in the bosom of the Father, a personage of tabernacle…being in the form and likeness of man…”
Current D&C 130:22, “The Father has a body of flesh and bones as tangible as man’s; the Son also; but the Holy Ghost has not a body of flesh and bones, but is a personage of Spirit.”

(The Bible, John 4:24, “God is Spirit”.
Luke 24:39, “Spirit does not have flesh and bones…”
Numbers 23:19; Hosea 11:9, “God is not a man…”)

Is there more than one God?

BoM, Alma 11:28-29, “Now Zeezrom said: Is there more than one God? And he (Amulek) answered, No.”
D&C 121:28, “…whether there be one God or many gods, they shall be manifest.”
(This was written in 1839.)
[And “it was manifested”]:
“…God himself was once as we are now, and is an exalted man…we have imagined and supposed that God was God from all eternity. I will refute that ideaI will preach on the plurality of Gods…”(Teachings of Prophet Joseph Smith, pp. 345, 370 (This was written in 1844.)

(The Bible: Isa. 44:6, “…I AM the first, and I AM the last, and besides Me there is no God.”
Isa. 45:5, “I AM the Lord, and there is none else, there is no God beside Me.”)

Was Polygamy (David’s and Solomon’s, etc.) approved by God?

BoM, Jacob 2:24, 27, “Behold, David and Solomon truly had many wives and concubineswhich thing was abominable before me, saith the LordFor there shall not any man among you have save it one wife; and concubines he shall have none.”
D&C 132:37-38-39, “Abraham received concubines, and they bore him children; and it was accounted unto him for righteousnessDavid also received many wives and concubines, and also Solomon and Moses and many others of my servants, from beginning of creation until this timeand in nothing did they sin… against me save in the case of Uriah and his wife…”

(The Bible: Gen. 2:22-24 says that the Lord God took a rib from Adam and made for him a woman (one)… and they two shall be one flesh.
Deut. 17:17, “Neither shall he multiply wives to himself…”
(Note: God ordained monogamy. God was against polygamy. First polygamist in the Bible was Lamech, Cain’s grandson. Gen. 4:19.)

What about people who have not heard the gospel? Is there work for the dead?

BoM, Alma 34: 32-35“…this life is the time for men to prepare to meet Godfor the same spirit which possesses your bodies at the time that ye go out of this life…will have power to possess your body in the eternal world…if ye have procrastinated the day of your repentance even until death…ye have become subjected to the spirit of the devil…and [he] hath power over you; and this is the final state of the wicked.”
D&C 128:15 teaches that even the living will not be saved unless they do work for the dead
For their (the dead) salvation is necessary and essential to our salvation…)

(The Bible: Hebr. 9:27, “As it is appointed unto men once to die, but after this the judgment.”)
There is no second chance! “Now is the day of salvation.” 2 Cor. 6:2; Hebr. 3:15; 4:7.)

What about paid ministry?

BoM, 2 Nephi 26:31“But the laborer in Zion shall labor for Zion: for if they labor for money they shall perish.”
D&C 42:71-73, “Elders or high priests who are appointed by the bishop…are to have their families supported…and the bishop, also, shall receive his support, or just remuneration for all his services in the church.”

(The Bible: 1 Cor. 9:14“Even so hath the Lord ordained that they which preach the gospel should live of the gospel.”)

Does money (tithe) assure forgiveness of sins?

BoM, Mormon 8:32, “Yea, it shall come in a day when there shall be churches built up that shall say: Come unto me, and for your money you shall be forgiven of your sins. (That means NO.)
D&C 64:24, “…for he that is tithed shall not be burned.”

(The Bible: Acts 8:20“Thy money perish with thee, because thou hast thought that the gift of God may be purchased with money.”
(Salvation cannot be bought or earned. It is the Gift of God; Eph. 2:8-9.)
